Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
